Adding Chickens to Our Urban Property

The chickens add lots of good elements to our urban setup. Fertilizer, compost, waste management, weed elimination and unwanted insects etc. The great thing in all this is the people you meet. I'm not a carpenter, but my friend Danny is. He came up all the way from Spokane Washington to see us and build our chicken space and talk about further developing his acreage into a homestead. This kind of urban activity lends itself to building friendships and community. Our chickens are ISA Browns, a breed developed in 1978. They are friendly to people and produce 6 eggs per week when they are happy.
